Winter's Peak (Part 1) Anyone would be forgiven for thinking Kate was out on a typical, common ski vacation in Zermatt, Switzerland. She had brought multiple large bags with her, presumably containing skiing gear, such as helmets, gloves, and more. She was renting a small lodge in the ski resort, which was typical for more wealthy visitors to the region. The lodge was located about a mile away from the main ski resort, where most of the tourists stayed, and where all of the shops, restaurants, and hotels were located. Kate's lodge was in a small 'estate' like grouping of other lodges, and the guests who stayed in these mostly spent their time on private skiing lessons and in the bars and restaurants in the main resort area. However, Kate never went skiing. She never went up the mountains, on the ski lifts, not even into the skiing gear shops to look at the top of the line snowboards and other items.
